Green Grants

Under the DTI’s low carbon buildings programme grants totalling £10.5 million are available to householders and community organisations for microgeneration technology. A further £18 million are available to public, not for profit and private sector organisations for medium and large scale microgeneration projects.

These grants will cover up to 50% of the cost of installing renewable energy systems, such as solar panels.

NIE SMART Programme PV top-up grant

To encourage uptake of the DTI PV grant, NIE have added a ‘top-up’ grant for PV as part of their SMART (sustainable management of assets and renewable technology) programme. An additional 15% of the project cost is available to NI householders, making a total possible grant of 65%.
